Research Experience Secondary Prevention of Small Subcortical Strokes (SPS3) Oct. 2009-May 2010 Neuropsychological Examiner Vanderbilt Stroke Center Principal Investigator: Howard Kishner, M.D. Provide neuropsychological testing designed to assess cognition and memory for NIH-funded longitudinal study. Overall study is designed to test whether taking aspirin in combination with clopidogrel is more effective than aspirin alone in preventing another stroke in patients who have suffered a subcortical stroke. Testing administration is audiotaped and reviewed by a study neuropsychologist for quality assurance purposes. Assessments include the Cognitive Assessment Screening Instrument (CASI), subtests from the WAIS-III, Grooved Pegboard, California Verbal Learning Test (CVLT), Controlled Oral Word Association Test, and a Clock Drawing Task (CLOX) Developmental Origins of Depressive Cognitions Dec. 2006-June 2010 Graduate Research Assistant Vanderbilt University Principal Investigator: David Cole, Ph.D. Participate in NIMH-funded longitudinal study of the development of depressive cognitions in children, with a focus on the role of chronic targeted peer victimization as a vulnerability factor.
