Melissa A. Maxwell, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Maxwell received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Before joining the Cognitive Behavioral Institute of Albuquerque, she completed the training program at the Durham VA Medical Center Psychology Internship Program in North Carolina. She has experience working with child, adolescent, and adult populations in a variety of settings. These include a PTSD clinic, geropsychology service (with palliative care emphasis), acute mental health (inpatient service), and outpatient mental health programs, as well as behavioral medicine rotations at the Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health and a VA Women’s Healthcare Center. Additionally, she has worked with incarcerated juvenile offenders and also with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and their families. Dr. Maxwell has been actively involved in research and has published on a number of topics, including adolescent development and depression as well as adaptive strengths and weaknesses in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology at the Cognitive Behavioral Institute of Albuquerque, Dr. Maxwell is directly supervised by the Institute's Director, Bradford C.
